The Churchills Rock

The Churchills band (1965-1673) was the voice of an era.
They were a different, new kind of musician with crazy energy, and yet, very melodic.
When my father first brought the record home, I was six years old. So among other good and bad things I grew up with at the time, there was Churchill Sebastian Bach…
The band’s first record was a musical earthquake. It didn’t sell very well, and wasn’t played on the radio as often as Rivka Zohar and Yehoram Gaon, but Israeli rock owes it its life.
In 1965, high school friends Haim Romano and Miki Gavrielov started a band.

Racing to the Top

If you happen to be passing an empty parking lot in Rishon Lezion and see a motorbike rider doing some dangerous-looking twists and turns, you may well be seeing the future star of Israeli motor sport.
It may, of course, also be a random teenager with a taste for danger, but those are the conditions in which Dean Gopher is forced to train, because of the fact that there is almost no motor sport setup in Israel.
The 20-year-old Gopher is coming off his first season as a professional rider, which began by chance, and ended in surprising success.
The Ra’anana born began his sporting career as a horse rider, only to fall in love with the asphalt race track.

The latest homegrown hit from Israel, False Flag (כפולים), from Keshet Network, which airs on Channel 2 on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., has already been bought by Fox International for a US version. It was also bought by France’s Canal Plus. It’s based on the true story of the killing of a Hamas man in Dubai in 2010 by a team of spies, who used fake copies of the passports of a group of regular Israelis, who, as it seems, had nothing to do with the spy game.
